Coming round …. bit of a blur

I remember opening my eyes. I assume this was the first time since I’d gone into theatre.

One of the nurses, who had fitted the catheter before surgery, was by my bed. I said her name. She said she’d wanted to be with me when I woke up because she saw how worried I’d looked. I don’t know if I thought it at the time, but this was a lovely thing to do.

My Story-17th Jan 2020 Part 1

Ready to teach

It’s 17th January 2020 – a date it turns out I’ll never forget.

I woke up around 7.30am (normal for a Friday). I was teaching at 9am. I remember having a slight headache but didn’t think anything of it as I’d had a few sneaky headaches over the last month or so. Why am I here?

My name is Caroline. I’m 37 years old and I had a stroke on 17th January 2020.

I suffered a major traumatic experience and I had no idea it was about to happen.

I have started this blog to share my story, experience & recovery. I hope to share this with people who have been through the same or similar to me, who may be able to relate to my experience. I also hope to share with people who may learn something from my story.

The 3 main types of stroke are: –

  • Ischemic Stroke
  • Hemorrhagic Stroke
  • Transient Ischemic Attack (a warning or “mini stroke”

I suffered 2 transient ischemic attacks about an hour apart from each other before having an Ischemic stroke (loss of blood flow) about 4 hours after the first TIA.
